Babylonica
(Installation, 2008)
Babylonica is an interactive installation / game that combines a physical interface with a digital life form. In Babylonica your goal is to build a construction from wooden blocks to help a group of digital lemming-like beings to reach their target. These beings are very fond of architecture and climbing which is why they monitor your construction closely. If your building is to their liking they will start to reproduce it by climbing on top of each other. To reach the target that is floating above, some insight and engineering skills are required since there is only a restricted amount of construction material.
Babylonica is a study of physical human-computer interaction and of swarm behaviour. It's also a playful game that brings many players into contact with their inner child.

Babylonica was shown at the Blikopener Festival 2008 as part of the We Run In Abstract group exhibition.
