Braitenberg Sketcher

(Software, 2008)

The Braitenberg Sketcher is a software experiment based upon the ideas of neuro-scientist and cyberneticist Valentino Briatenberg as noted in his famous little book Vehicles - Experiments in Synthetic Psychology (MIT Press, 1984). It was also inspired by Casey Reas' piece Tissue, which is based on the same ideas. The concepts introduced in the book are based around simple sensor-actuator relations and the seemingly lifelike behaviours they can produce. The behaviour in the Braitenberg Sketcher is modelled around the sensor-actuator relationship of Vehicle 2b from the book.
